“So what if it glowed? Still a book, and reading it would be better than listening to any more of Granddad's insults disguised as lessons. Or reliving that bus accident. I mean, really, what could go wrong?“

This book has good themes for an older elementary school student including working through guilt and seeking help and support from others. Themes of courage and stepping up when others need you are also included.
When Tristan Strong is unable to save his friend, his guilt leads him to creating a rift to another world. Using his newfound abilities and courage, Tristan must step up to the plate and save the people of this new world that he accidentally discovered.
In a great twist of fate, I‘ve already completed one #bookspin book for December! I started the ragged book in late November and finished it on December 1. I‘m going to tackle book 16 for #LMPBC and might keep Bone Rattler for an after-Christmas indulgence when the girls go to my parents‘ for a few days.

💛 Definitely went through both, but the Aruthurian phase lasted way longer!
💛 England and Ireland!
💛 Honestly any and all of the Rick Riordan and Rick Riordan Presents books are fantastic. I recommend them to my library patrons all the time! The Tristan Strong series is my FAVORITE though - it combines African mythology and African American folktales!

Reading buddies! Catching a few chapters while my son pretends to practice his euphonium. He must not realize how easy it is for me---or anyone in the neighborhood---to tell when he isn't actually playing.
This was a fantastic audiobook. I love the way the contemporary fantasy pulls in historical and cultural threads and mythology. A bit of a slow start and then a wild ride.
