Some of the books I enjoyed this month...
Really loved this collection of Erpenbeck's NF writing. She writes about Fallada, Ovid, borders, opera (she's also a successful director), starting out as a writer, the end of the GDR, grief, refugees, borders...

When we know nothing about a character except what he himself says-nothing that can put those things in perspective—then we are no longer behind the lines, we are on the front.
So what was I doing the night the wall fell? I spent that evening with friends, just a few blocks from the spot where world history was being made, and then: I slept. I literally slept through that moment of world history...
An honest and amusing look into Erpenbeck's life and work. Erpenbeck gives her coming of age in Berlin, the fall of the Berlin at twenty two, astutely examining her own country's grim past. And her journey to become a writer, sharing literary influences. This was an interesting read! My favorite parts were about her writing thought process and her childhood. Definitely reccomend all her books, she's a beautiful writer. #review #booklover
