pickEven when it was supposedly ‘new‘, the New Age wasn‘t really new. This book shows how almost a hundred years before the New Age the comparable ideas of Steiner, Gurdjieff and Madame Blavatsky herself had made significant inroads into the West. I love books like this, where the author‘s deftness of touch makes alive what in less capable hands would be drier than dust. What it also shows is the West‘s insatiable quest - even lust - for meaning.
