The epic, can't-miss follow-up to the New York Times bestselling Avatar, The Last Airbender: The Rise of Kyoshi Kyoshi's place as the true Avatar has finally been cemented--but at a heavy cost. With her mentors gone, Kyoshi voyages across the Four Nations, struggling to keep the peace. But while her reputation grows, a mysterious threat emerges from the Spirit World. To stop it, Kyoshi, Rangi, and their reluctant allies must join forces before the Four Nations are destroyed irreparably. This thrilling follow-up continues Kyoshi's journey from a girl of humble origins to the merciless pursuer of justice still feared and admired centuries after becoming the Avatar.

This was my #doublespin book for this month. I enjoyed it a lot more than the last one, not gonna lie. I am obsessed with the world of the avatar. I need more lol @TheAromaofBooks

Jjaxn95 I just finished watching Avatar for the first time and now I‘m watching the Legend of Korra! I quickly became obsessed, it‘s a great world! What kind of books are there? 2y
persephone1408 In the series I'm on, there are 2 kyoshi novels and one yangchen. (Air avatar) Idk what else. 2y

I love the lore of the Avatar world that this book had to offer, but it left me wanting more, especially as this is the “conclusion” of the two-book series. Kyoshi lived to be 230 years, and we know she formed her own island after splitting from the mainland. I would love to know more about her later in life too, instead of just continuing her issue with Yun. If I knew another book was coming, I think I‘d like this book more.

I had trouble staying focused with this one during some parts, there was less action than the first book. However, I still enjoyed it and I like the way it ended. It was a nice continuation into the legacy of Kyoshi, and I‘m glad I further glimpsed into this universe that I love so much. Kyoshi is a bad a** and learning more about her character has been fun.

persephone1408 Thats crazy cause I had a lot of trouble paying attention with the first one. 2y
jen_the_scribe @persephone1408 That‘s okay, to each their own 😊 2y

My next listen. After finishing The Rise of Kyoshi, I just want to jump right back into this world.

I had suspicions of where this story was going considering how book 1 ended but man it felt a bit more tragic as I worked my way through it. Kyoshi had a rough start at the beginning of her Avatar-hood but she had great allies. Really enjoyed this series.

Satisfying conclusion. Not as good as the first book but still fun.

This duology was a lot of fun! Kyoshi‘s story is much darker and more violent than what I was expecting from Avatar novels! I also enjoyed learning more about Kuruk and Yangchen. Ultimately, I was left with wanting more because Kyoshi has so much history! I‘d also be happy if these books were picked up for a tv series.

Rise of Kyoshi 5/5 stars
The Shadow of Kyoshi 4/5 stars

Boasting itself as the "conclusion" to Kyoshi's story, fans of Avatar will hope that's a false prediction as they clamor for the remaining two centuries' worth of Kyoshi's markedly mature adventures under the reliable pen of F.C. Yee.

This series is really an amazing addition to the Avatar universe. LOVED the second book. Kyoshi is navigating a difficult world and finally taps into her spiritual self and attempts to access her past lives. Having the story showcase the difference in the Avatar universe prior to what we know from the TV show is fascinating to me. I hope there are many more books to come!

I love Avatar Kyoshi so much!! This was a nice second piece of her story into becoming her own avatar. What I really liked was hearing more about the other past avatars. Specifically learning about a new one, Szeto. Alongside how Yangchen‘s work affected Kuruk, who in turn affected Kyoshi. The story did a great job showing just how much everything is connected. Little surprise Kyoshi doesn‘t need the avatar state to do large bending. #avatar

Either way, it was slow going. Rebuilding always took longer then destruction, cleaning a mess more time then making it. #avatar

“We have a saying in the Fire Nation,” Chaejin called after her, “dishonor is like a bird in flight. It has to land somewhere” You‘d think everyone in the Fire Nation was married to dishonor and loyalty #avatar

I‘m so excited!!! And I just can‘t hide it!! Avatar Kyoshi is my favorite of all the Avatars - though Anng holds a special place. The world of avatar was built up so well in the first installment, as well as how Kyoshi stepped into the role, so I am very interested to see where this goes. Hope we get a glimpse at how she created the Dai Li and the Kyoshi Warriors #avatar
