Made from scraps of family‘s old clothes, it will always reflect the family, and help them “remember”.

Another one of my favorite picture books used in my placement. This story touches on the heartwarming relationship with a grandparent. Tanya‘s grandma is working on an heirloom quilt for her family, when she falls ill, Tanya steps up and finished it herself.
This is a sweet story that the 3rd graders enjoyed but it is a lengthy one. Allow for time to really absorb the story and the detailed illustrations. #cbad #classroombookaday

The Patchwork Quilt by Valerie Flournoy and illustrated by Jerry Pinkney is Coretta Scott King award-winning book. The genre is RF and this book is about a girl named Tanya who helps her mother and grandmother make a patchwork quilt that tells her family‘s life story.
This book could be independently read (IR) due to the fact that this book has more words than other picture books.
