Pickpick

The book itself was mediocre; many errors and much too broad of an overview for my tastes. It read like a book cover summary, and the editor did not do a very thorough job. With that said, the subject (American actress and activist Charlotte Cushman) was fascinating! I had never heard of her, but learning about her impact on American culture is worth the read. A good intro to the woman and her life; now I want more!

Pickpick

A solid, well-researched biography of a woman whose fame was prodigious in her time but who's largely forgotten now. I'm assuming the reason we don't all know her name along with other famous Shakespearean actors like Macready and Forrest is because of sexism.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
