I bailed... rare for me to do but I just couldn't get into it.
I read 150 pages so did give it a chance 😏🙀 but had no empathy for the characters and found the female narrator to be difficult to follow.

Wonderful prose. Not wholey convinced by Winona's voice but I enjoyed it anyway.
Next up. I always enjoy Barry's books. They have a beautiful prose like quality to them.
Such a disappointment! I did not find the narrator credible at all. I was so looking forward to this sequel to Days With Out End. Not worth the read for me. 1.5 🌟

Oh how I loved this book. You know that feeling when something you‘re reading is so beautifully described that you think your heart might burst? Well, that‘s this book. I now need to go back and read the FIRST book (Days Without End), and I‘ll probably destroy myself all over again. Why have I only now found Sebastian Barry?! Oh, and I read this on The Pigeonhole app - if you haven‘t found it yet, I highly recommend it. And my iPad needs a clean!!
An interesting, thought provoking and worthwhile read. a sequel to Days Without End which I haven‘t read. IThe characters are well defined and the writing is very vivid with some fabulous imagery. The prejudice and discrimination against certain cultures was terrible and I don‘t think much has changed as time has gone by. Enjoyable and absorbing although I should‘ve read the previous book first just for the background story. 3.5⭐️

In his new novel Barry writes as a female Native American. He is white, male and Irish. I do not see the internet exploding though and I‘ve done a few searches.
Makes you think.
