The Brick Bible
The Brick Bible: A New Spin on the Old Testament | Brendan Powell Smith
4 posts | 1 read | 1 to read
Brendan Powell Smith has spent the last decade creating nearly 5,000 scenes from the biblewith Legos. His wonderfully original sets are featured on his website, Bricktestament.com, but for the first time 1,500 photographs of these creative designsdepicting the Old Testament from Earths creation to the Books of Kingsare brought together in book format. The Holy Bible is complex; sometimes dark, and other times joyous, and Smiths masterful work is a far cry from what a small child might build. The beauty of The Brick Bible is that everyone, from the devout to nonbelievers, will find something breathtaking, fascinating, or entertaining within this collection. Smiths subtle touch brings out the nuances of each scene and makes you reconsider the way you look at Legosits something that needs to be seen to be believed.

I tried posing yesterday, but Litsy was acting up on me.

A friend bought me this book several years ago because I'm a Lego fanatic. I thought it was perfect for the #Heavenly prompt. 😀

This book is tough to summarize, since is is made with many small stories put together to make one big story. It has all the stories of the Old Testament of the bible within it. I‘ll just go over my favourite story within it. The story of David is about this small boy with hope. Goliath is a big soldier on the opposing Philistine army. Goliath bigger than anyone thought it was impossible for someone to defeat him, but David stepped up,

cameron schmold And beat the beast of Goliath with a slingshot. This is a great story about a moral principle. It shows courage and faith. If you are religious but easily distracted you would enjoy this book. The pictures keep you interested while you still read the bible. This book is written in the third person omniscient point of view. This is established because you can see the characters thoughts and understand what they have going through there minds. 5y
MissYaremcio Great review Cameron! I am impressed! 5y

This book is good if you can‘t focus enough to read the bible. The pictures are amazing for being made out of LEGO and it‘s interesting. I think it could improve if they used slang terms to better the modern feel of this book. The pictures make it easier to read and still be entertaining. It‘s just the bible but with pictures of the scenes made of LEGO blocks. Very colourful, the colours where used in a good manner and make each page pop at you.

cameron schmold Motif: is the usage of sacrifice of people and animals. They use this motif to show how connected to god and that they are willing to kill for him. It shows the fear that they have in god that they will listen to any word god says. 5y
MissYaremcio Cameron, great review! I struggled to understand your motif but overall it was a great way for me to understand what makes this book so unique. 5/6 5y
