This is a low pick because it was a bit too disturbing for me.Gritty, grim Glasgow.Sexual abuse of children,a psychopath, new drugs&McCoy‘s own issues with alcohol&drug abuse&he struggles with his distressing childhood. At least now he has a new smart feminist girlfriend who seems stable. What I enjoyed most were the soccer references to rival teams Celtic& Rangers-my husband is a huge Celtic fan-&setting of the novel:Glasgow in the 1970s.
Second of this enjoyable series set in early 1970's Glasgow find D.C Harry McCoy investigating the murder of a talented Celtic footballer. As the crime personally touches a prominent gang leader, Harry's close friendship with another criminal boss who is battling for territory threatens to compromise him, esp when a face from their shared complicated childhood leads to escalating violence. This is shaping up to be a must-read series.
2,113 pages across 6 books. A few good ones, a few that I wasn‘t crazy about. Was an ok reading month for me #februarywrapup
When a local football hero is gruesomely murdered Murray and Harry McCoy swing quickly into action to solve the case.
But this is not a one off murder, more corpses are piling up and some parts of this case is bringing to the surface things Harry would rather forget but can he put this aside to carry on doing his job?
With a gang boss murdered and a landscape full of drugs and booze Harry has his work cut out for him.
When Harry McCoy and Murray are called into investigate a case in Glasgow of a local footballing celebrity bring gruesomely butchered things turn sinister as this is not an isolated incident.
More "bodies" are turning up but that is not all, even the local gang mobsters and their henchmen are being targeted.
What is going on?
Is this a simple case of gang warfare and territory disputes gone wrong and taken too far or is it something more?
