Cute names? Check. Adventurous story? Check Cool format? Check. Klise hits it out of the park with a story of a librarian and fifth grade class fighting corrupt officials and nonsensical rules. So much fun!
Dedication. Need I say how much I already love this Author?
End papers
A tribute to librarians, this is a great book, funny and humorous and well written and well drawn, if that is something I can say. Loved the character and street names and the format or style of the book: I hear there are similar ones out there but this is the first I've seen where narrative unfolds via newspaper articles, messages, letters, emails.
A definite pick for me!
From the Author Acknowledgments:
“But it's the librarians who have surprised us the most. Who knew there existed such a sly, smart, subversive band of bookworms devoted to spreading mischief and mayhem (we mean that in the best way!) in schools and public libraries on a daily basis? This book is our tribute to them.“
Books. A word so small and humble, but I can say without a doubt that when I'd lost the will to live, books saved me.
Got this ARC for my son but for some reason he was not interested so he gave it to me to drop in a little free library. However I made the mistake of opening it and I got hooked, I really like the idea, the puns, and the humor. First I'll read it then let it free.
New review on my blog about Don‘t Check Out This Book by Kate Klise
https://bookitwithsandi.home.blog/2020/03/19/dont-check-out-this-book/
Congratulations to Kate and M. Sarah Klise on the release of such a fun middle grade novel! Just like a four-leaf clover the town of Appleton is lucky to have Mrs. Rita B. Danjerous as their librarian especially the 20 kids at the elementary.
The puns in this book are hilarious. Definitely check out this book!
Thank you to the publisher & #edelweissplus for the opportunity to read this book in lieu of my honest review.
