This was a quirky little big graphic novel. It‘s about a girl in space who just wants to make sure her father is safe, she has friends, and that she won't get eaten by a space whale. There are all sorts of issues that revolve around garbage, dung, salvage, childhood etc. while it was not my favorite graphic novel for this age, reluctant readers will find a story they don‘t want to put down.

A few #spaceoddity graphic novels I pulled off the kids' shelf. I haven't read either. ?
I tend to prefer "quiet novels about ordinary life" and few of them seem to take place in space. ?

Space Dumplins by Craig Thompson is a vibrantly colored, action-packed space adventure about friendship and a young girls' determination to save her family.

When this graphic novel was recommended to me, I immediately requested it from my local library. I'm so happy that I was able to get my hands on it so quickly!

Well, this certainly isn‘t Blankets. This middle-grade graphic novel has some good stuff - great art, interesting characters, intriguing setting. But then it has really weird elements like whale diarrhea thrown in. I liked the family dynamic and the friendships, but this book tries to do too many things, and it ends up not doing any of them expertly.

A whole lot of weirdness, but cuteness, but weirdness...🤔 I liked it overall! Probably hitting the hay here before too long. Today was a long, stressful day with Irma, and last night I didn't sleep until around 3 am. I'm exhausted! Thanks to everyone who checked in with us during the storm! Y'all are truly the best 💗

Yesterday's comic read also suits today's #inagalaxyfarfaraway prompt for #maybookflowers. I didn't know that Craig Thompson had written this all-ages comic set in space. Violet's dad, a space lumberjack, is missing and she sets off to find him. It's a cute colourful scifi comic aimed at a younger audience but still fun for everyone else. Great illustrations too!

Really weird! Whales, diarrhea, fashionable aliens, clunker vehicles, chicken evolution, creepy surgery -- odd, odd, odd but a fun space adventure for kids. The color brings a new whimsy to Thompson's lovely rendering of characters and settings. And i love seeing his decorative motifs in space! #mommyreads #comics #ebook
