📕 This is a beautiful collection in a stunning hardcover with a good paper weight.

Sho has a regretful fight with his mom shortly before he & his school disappear. Poof! Gone. He‘s a MC.

But the school & its inhabitants are only transported into the future to a dystopianesque Dune-like environment.

Comparisons to Lord of the Flies are tangential. Fear, hysteria take hold immediately. Murder, death, kill follows!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 👇🏻

Twainy Children aren‘t spared! The lunch man hoards food, adults perish, monsters eat children. Soon the children are left alone to fend for themselves.

Need books 2 & 3 to see where it goes!

The Drifting Classroom won one of Japan‘s major literary awards, The 20th Shogakukan Manga Award, in 1975. It‘s mix of psychological horror and splatter horror with a pinch of giant monsters is such a delicious blend. *chefs kiss*

Last June, Viz Media released the final volume of The Drifting Classroom: a mammoth collection by famous horror creator, Kazuo Umezz. These are gorgeous hardcovers, each containing over 700 glossy, gorgeous pages.

Reggie @Hazel2019 was very kind enough to gift me this Junji Ito collection of short stories for creepy Christmas and one of them is about his hero worship of this guy, who I had never heard of until last month. Very cool! 4y
MoniqueChristine @Reggie Oh very cool! Which short story collection was it? 🤓 (edited) 4y

I loved this. I read Cat Eyed Boy years ago and don‘t know why I didn‘t pick up more from him. It‘s so wild what happens to all these kids and I will need to order the second volume ASAP.

I bought this in January and wanted to wait until my library list shortened. Looks like the time to start it is now! Kinda mad I didn‘t buy the second book while I had the chance!

I just got back from B&N. This is the last weekend of their ‘buy 2 manga, get 1 free‘ deals, which tempted me into buying this beautiful hardcover Vol. 1 edition of Drifting Classroom. I love Viz Media‘s Signature editions. The Junji Ito collections are gorgeous! Of course that means I got to pick out 2 additional manga and then threw on 1 more for good measure. I added 2 more books to the pile and called it a successful trip to the bookstore. 📚
