Violence Girl
Violence Girl: East L.A. Rage to Hollywood Stage : a Chicana Punk Story | Alice Bag
3 posts | 1 read | 2 reading | 4 to read
Against the colourful backdrop of an East L.A. childhood and the Hollywood punk scene, Violence Girl tells the hilarious, yet harrowing, coming-of-age story of Alice Bag, lead singer of The Bags. Sweeping two decades and a variety of social changes, Violence Girl is both a gripping memoir and a history of the L.A. punk scene through the eyes of one of L.A.'s most notorious punk stars.

I am super excited for this book! My husband knocked it out of the park with book gifts this year!

DarcysMom @readordierachel I am about 50 pages in and all I want to do is sit and read more! 4y

#girlinthetitle music biography/memoir edition. I've read Brownstein's (amazing!) and Gordon's (alright), and I'm currently reading Sara Marcus' history of riot grrrl (excellent so far!), but Rat Girl and Violence Girl are on the #tbr.

vivastory If you haven't read it, Alec Foege's "Confusion is Next" is an enjoyable look at 80s NY indie music scene & Sonic Youth. 8y
