People think Taylor is living the dream, and assume she'll stay in town and have kids with the homecoming king--maybe even be a dental hygienist if she's super ambitious. But Taylor is actually desperate to leave home, and she hates the smell of dentists' offices. Also? She's completely in love with her best friend, Susan. Senior year is almost over, and everything seems perfect. Now Taylor just has to figure out how to throw it all away. A short, semi-cliché read. Taylor is dating Brad. But she really has a crush on her best friend Susan, not a great thing to be while living in the 90‘s. She has to figure out how deal with how she feels. I have to dock one star because this book had a lot of fat-shaming. 4⭐️

Moonprismpower I kind of like how Taylor works at Marylou‘s. It‘s a super kitchy pink retro coffee shop. I think that was in this book. It‘s supposed to be set in a twin in MA. And I sometimes pass a Marylou‘s. 4y

This book reminds me of the Winona Ryder movie Welcome Home Roxy Carmichael. A girl seeking a parent and sets her sights on a famous celebrity. But Taylor is a popular girl and she is secretly gay. The ending is different than the movie obviously. But the ending does allude to hope and yet also disappointment. The idea is life is what you make it, so make it. But sometimes life isn‘t easily controlled or we would all have what we want.
