I felt quite nostalgic after revisiting this book from my childhood for #BookishMonopoly. True, it was quirky and predictable, but I loved that it was set in Hollywood and thereabouts. As Donna Parker discovered all the popular sites in California, it reminded me of this Donna‘s memories of first moving here. I even found a pressed flower within the pages.
Happy reading to our awesome host @AkashaVampie and fellow player @Jari-chan 🤓🎲📖

Chrissyreadit i loved Donna Parker 💛💛💛 5mo

It‘s #BookishMonopoly time! I rolled an 8 and Snoopy landed on “Bookshelf #4.” At first glance of this particular shelf of my TBR bookcase, I chose this 1961 children‘s classic. I loved reading this series when I was a kid. Especially since the protagonist and I share the same name. 😁
Thanks again to @AkashaVampie for hosting this creative and fun challenge, and comrade player @Jari-chan 🤗
Who else wants to play? 🎲

Becker I had this book. Childhood reading memories are always warm and cozy. 6mo

Good morning to all #24in48 Readathoners! Hope you‘re all well rested and enjoying great reads. I remember devouring all the Donna Parker (1957-64) books when I was a kid. And I still have my original copy of The Incredible Journey (1960). How can you not love this story about those 3 resilient and beloved pets? 🐶🐶🐱❤️

Playing a bit of catchup! These 1950s/60s YA novels were probably the first mysteries I read. (Handed down to me in the 80s) I think I loved how “American” they were, summer camp and bubblegum and bathing suits etc. Seemed very alluring and exotic when I was ten!

mabell I‘ve read and have all of these! 😍❤️ 6y
Chrissyreadit I loved these! I do not know what happened to my copies though. 6y
VioletBramble I read these. I never owned them, I borrowed from the library. 6y

Tonton Felt the same way about the Cherry Ames nurse series! anybody remember those? 6y
Cinfhen Calling @LeahBergen & @rubyslippersreads I feel like these books might bring back some fond memories?!?!? Am I right???? 6y
LeahBergen @Cinfhen Yes! 😆😆 I had Donna Parker, Special Agent but I can‘t remember who passed it down to me. It was so retro and “American” (like @Centique said) even when I read it in the late 70s. 😆😆 6y
Cinfhen When weren‘t you reading @LeahBergen ??? I don‘t really remember reading as a kid/ tween 6y
Centique @Cinfhen I love when you call on our resident children‘s classics experts. 😍They are legends in their reading @LeahBergen @rubyslippersreads 6y
Centique @Tonton I didn‘t but I just looked them up and they look so cute! 6y
Centique @mabell yay! I never see them in second hand shops either so they feel a bit rare. Sorry you lost yours @Chrissyreadit 6y
batsy I can't believe I've never read or heard of Donna Parker! Look at these covers 😍😍 6y
pocketmermaid I picked up a few of these from a thrift store while on vacation. I wish I snagged all they had! 6y
rubyslippersreads @Cinfhen @LeahBergen I definitely remember these, but I never read any. I‘ll have to watch for them in my thrift shopping. 😊 6y
rubyslippersreads @Centique @Cinfhen What a lovely compliment, to be a legend with @LeahBergen ❤️😊 6y
Cinfhen You are BOTH legendary @LeahBergen @rubyslippersreads ( hope u had a great bday❤️) 6y
LeahBergen @Cinfhen I can‘t remember an age when books weren‘t the most important physical objects in my life. 😆😆 I have a very early memory of my Dad leaning over my crib and giving me a new book. 😮 6y
LeahBergen @Centique @Cinfhen Oh, how wonderful that compliment is!! 😍😍 You are going to inflate our bookish egos; right, @rubyslippersreads ? 😆 6y
LeahBergen @Tonton I was just looking at some Cherry Ames books at a secondhand bookshop. I‘ve never read any, though! 6y
rubyslippersreads @LeahBergen I hope our heads don‘t get too big for our crowns. 👑😂 @Cinfhen @Centique 6y

Found a childhood favorite at a library book sale! I'm in heaven! I loved Donna Parker! Anyone else remember these books?

awishman I remember Donna Parker! A friend's mom lent me a bunch of hers from when she was younger. Fun! 8y
ApoptyGina69 I have at least 8 and I love them all! I can't get up to go check right now, but I remember she wears "dungarees" and her friend was Ricki. So great! Different than Nancy Drew or Trixie Belden, but still lots of fun and with some serious topics, too. 8y
Tanner I had one and liked it a lot, although I was more of a Tricia Belden fan myself. 8y
krismac @Tanner @ApoptyGina69 @awishman Funny but I don't remember much about the individual books except that I loved them! I'm thinking I need to add to my collection now..... 8y

These Donna Parker Mystery books (look! Up there! Between the horse heads!) used to belong to my mum. Most of them, anyway. They're so much fun, by golly jeepers! And Donna Parker in Hollywood (the one all pretty in pink) was always my favourite.
