This was my first book of 2020. Really good Parker vintage. The humour, the banter, grown up love.
Bonus : You can easily cast Idris Elba in this.

Lucy Parker books always make me laugh and then stomp on my heart a bit before things get fixed. Nick and Sabrina are rival evening news show folks forced to do a one month trial on doing the morning show, and well, feelings change.
Another amazing #romantsy by Lucy Parker! Enemies to lovers between the two new anchors of a morning talk show. I was so excited to see Sabrina and Nick‘s story finally.
Took an #audiowalk earlier today. I like this tree‘s attitude
I have been reflecting a lot lately about what I do in times of stress and on what small things I can do to focus on happiness. Today, I have two things to offer: an amazing romance novel. And spring flowers.⠀
⠀
Lucy Parker's London Celebrities series--Headliners is book 5--has become a reliable romance series for me, with nuanced characters and relationships, a perfect level of steaminess, ⬇️
Lucy Parker is always an automatic buy for me and I never regret it. She's delivered another wonderful romance (enemies to lovers this time) with two adult characters who communicate with one another, and have great chemistry (of course!)
(Kindle cover)
Two rival TV hosts with a real Benedick and Beatrice streak are forced to present the fluffy morning show *together* to save ratings and their jobs while dealing with a saboteur. This is cute and banterous and low angst - I enjoyed others in the series more, but devoured this in a day and a half. Happy.
The moment Sabrina and Nick showed up in THE AUSTEN PLAYBOOK, I knew Lucy Parker was going to give them their own story.
Then Nick did a Terrible Thing near the end of TAP, and I wondered if my romance series instincts had failed me. It‘s mighty hard to build a believable relationship on a foundation like THAT.
And yet, Parker does it! Her leads don‘t immediately spring back from the Terrible Thing. ⬇️
#bookreport time!
I charged through to the end of PAPER GIRLS. What a great series.
I devoured WAYWARD SON and HEADLINERS. Reviews coming next week.
I finished my latest Buddhist text and made a small but promising start on my first Ada Limón collection.
And I finally started OATHBRINGER, the very longest book on La TBR and the official third longest book I‘ve ever read. Guess what‘s gonna take up most of tomorrow‘s Weekly Forecast.
Oh my. I absolutely devoured this. Enemies to lovers but they actually sort out their issues quite early on (relatively) and the rest of the conflict is external which I love. I get really aggravated when the conflict is all stuff that could be solved by a simple conversation and this is so far from that. Loved it.
Sometimes I make healthy choices. Sometimes I start the day with a toaster waffle, move along to two plates at the Chinese buffet, and finish off with instant noodles.
They were Nongshim‘s Lobster flavour, and they were delicious.
I all but finished HEADLINERS while I ate. It‘s so good, y‘all! I do highly recommend you read THE AUSTEN PLAYBOOK first, though, because this one thoroughly spoils the historical conundrum plot from the earlier book.
The leads in HEADLINERS end up hosting a breakfast show, even though neither one of them is a morning person. I‘ve sympathized from the start, but days like this really hammer the point home. The weather apps can‘t agree if the windchill is currently -39 or -43. Either way, I‘m struggling to wake up. It was all I could do to brew some coffee and make a toaster waffle.
At least the book‘s awesome. I‘m SO EXCITED to wallow in the ending today.
I had breakfast with HEADLINERS, which is great so far. Lucy Parker is wonderful at both funny and serious, and I love her pet names. MAKING UP introduced us to Reginald the hedgehog. Now we‘ve got Alan the Yorkshire Terrier.
I love it when animals have people names. I‘m not gonna definitively say they‘re somehow cuter than animals with other types of names, but I think science might prove this in the future.
Really good Parker vintage. The humour, the banter, grown up love. That means no ridiculous obstacles for Nick and Sabrina to go through, just life, family, how to trust someone after you‘ve been hurt. How you can learn someone, fall for this person and built on trust, laughs and yes, attraction. I love how Parker can create an adult relationship that is fun, yet full of heat and passion but also with a dash of emotions that feel real. #romantsy
Still not done with this one. It's not its fault. It's funny and good. I'm just too tired to read or much. I had an amazing day yesterday. Went to the egyptian mommies exhibit in Montreal.
