Warm, powerful and unforgettable, Irish Times best-selling author Carmel Harrington's new novel is about second chances, friendship and unlikely heroes. 'Where is home?' DJ asked. 'Wherever the people you love are.' Ruth replied. Single mother, Ruth, and her son, DJ, have never truly fitted in, but that didn't matter, so long as they were together. When their home comes under threat, their quiet life will change forever. DJ meets Tom, a man who ten years ago walked out of his house and never looked back. Ruth, DJ and Tom have all felt like outsiders. Burdened with grief and insecurities, they are not living their best lives. But together, these three ordinary people will do an extraordinary thing...

Such a fun idea @Cinfhen ! Especially for someone like me who rarely organizes her reading!!!

Stella Fortuna- 180 pgs. Hopefully more. A Little overwhelming to see the numbers!
TKAM- reading with 9th grad- guessing 2-3 chapters
1000 Roads Home- 40- no deadline; just easy reading when I go to sleep.
Audio- I am slow with audios- only listen while cooking, doing dishes. Lucky me, commute to work is 10 min. So maybe 3 chapters-

Cinfhen I read Stella Fortuna this summer/ I really liked it a lot!!!! You got lots of good reads ahead. I‘ll be curious to see what you think about 5y
kspenmoll @Cinfhen That‘s great to hear! I am hoping it will generate stimulating bookclub discussion. The author grew up in my town & Stella emigrated from Italy to Connecticut. 5y
Cinfhen I think they‘ll be plenty to talk about🧡 5y

Pickpick

Surprisingly lovely. Warm, compassionate, and uplifting. I loved seething characters from marginalized groups find their chosen family.

Mehso-so

I'm not quite sure how to rate this one. It is a heartwarming story that examines how important it is to get to know someone's story before passing judgement. A single mom with Asperger's and a homeless man with a tragic past share a remarkable bond that teaches them the true meaning of family. I can see this as a Hallmark movie, which is to say, it is definitely not for me. I think others would probably love it, so I'll bump up my pan to a so-so.

cherinium If you enjoy stories with happy endings and everything tied up into a neat little bow, please, check this one out. If you're cynical and jaded like me, you should probably pass. 5y

I enjoy opportunities to read books that are out of my wheelhouse. Just past the 50 page mark, I'm concerned this one may be a bit too sappy for me. It seems like a quick read, though, so I'm going to see it through. Also, I still have gifts to unwrap as I continue through the story! #onceuponabookclub #booksubscription
