Blue Moon
Blue Moon | Laurell K. Hamilton
An Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, novel'Richard was an alpha werewolf. It was his only serious flaw. We'd broken up after I'd seen him eat somebody.'You never forget your ex-fiance. And when the call came at three in the morning, I thought for a moment it was him. It wasn't. It was his brother. And it wasn't good news. Apparently the former love of my life had got himself thrown into jail for assaulting a woman. Since I make my living as a preternatural expert, I tend to believe almost anything's possible. But though he may be one of the monsters, Richard would never harm a woman. So it's Anita Blake to the rescue. I've got just a few days to spring Richard and find out who framed him - and why. There's a full moon coming, and if my werewolf love is still behind bars when it rises, he'll be facing a lot worse than an assault charge...

“I‘m a monster, but it‘s for a good cause.” Crazy sauce. I loved it. 🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡

MinDea I used to read her Meredith Gentry series but never checked out Anita Blake. 7y
TommieMarie74 I had to break up with Anita Blake a couple years ago. I felt like the books just kept losing plot and gaining sex scenes; as though the plot became an afterthought. I miss the original, ass-kicking, “stick to her guns” Anita. The “group sex and nonstop orgies” Anita is just too much for me. 😕 (edited) 7y
Leniverse @TommieMarie74 Same here. Although I appreciate that Anita stopped feeling so angsty and guilty about sex all the time, and spent less time hating on tall blonde women, I hate how the plots became reduced to just being devices leading to more sex scenes. 7y
Christy2318 @TommieMarie74 @Leniverse I‘ve heard that before & I can see how the story arc is moving that direction. For now I‘m enjoying them but it is entirely possible that I will give up on them at some point because of that factor. 7y
TommieMarie74 @Leniverse @Christy2318 For a while I was okay with the additional sex scenes. I was happy she lost some of the guilt and angst too. But after reading about her and being emotionally invested in her for years, I got to a point where the sex was too much. I‘m glad others still enjoy the books. 7y

So, this is one of my least favorite books in the Anita Blake series. That being said, I still like it.

The focus of this novel is on the lycanthropes (*coughRichardcough*) in Anita's life—I prefer the vampires a little more hence my love not being so strong for this one. But it's still dramatic and crazy and entertaining.
