May 2021 - reread and I don‘t think I liked this one much the first time - feeling like I‘m seeing the growth

When a good series goes bad, it is #misery for reading fans. I loved the first 15-18 of these books. But now, they are just ridiculous. It makes me mad. And miserable.

It's cold and rainy outside today so I spent my lunch break reading inside my cozy office. Trying to finish up this one since the next book in the series came out today and I'm going directly to the bookstore to pick it up after work. She's a kickarse pocket rocket of a woman, she raises zombies and kills vampires for a living, she bosses around every man/vampire/werewolf/shifter she meets & she's funny & snarky & intimidating. What's not to love? Yes, the writing in the last few books has been a bit iffy, but at least I still get to spend a few hours with her once a year.🗡⚔️🔪

I've had my ups & downs with this series over the years, the first 8ish were ok, the next 8ish I really liked, but the last couple have been just so-so for me. I keep reading it anyway! Why? I don't know, maybe I'm hoping for some course correction/resolution, I'm honestly not sure. But either way, I keep reading them.
