Such a good graphic novel. I knew next to nothing about the world war 2 Japanese internment camps. This graphic novel was so informative and heartfelt. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really enjoyed the unique time travel and education on the incarceration camp experience of Japanese-Americans in the early 1940s. It‘s such a devastating topic.
Kiku travels back in time to the Japanese-American camps in WWII where her grandmother was incarcerated because of her ethnicity. Many messages are conveyed in a beautiful simple manner; for example, it is a historical & genealogical adventure and a protest book against discriminatory immigration policies. A fast 5-star read. Highly recommended for most ages. #Japan #readingasia2021 @Librarybelle @BarbaraBB
This book isn‘t just about the Japanese-American incarceration camps during WWII, it‘s a protest against discriminatory immigration policies. #Japan #readingasia2021 @Librarybelle @BarbaraBB
Kiku asked her roommate in the camps if she‘d teach her Japanese. The response: “There‘s no reason for you to learn it. You certainly don‘t want to go to Japan — it‘s even more fascist than America.” #Japan #readingasia2021 @Librarybelle @BarbaraBB
Daughter bought this graphic novel this weekend. She‘s loaned it to me to read for #readingasia2021 for #Japan because it is written by Japanese-American Kiku Hughes. @Librarybelle @BarbaraBB
