I greatly enjoy this collection when I actually pick it up, but I very rarely want to pick it up. I‘ve decided to put it back in the shelf and dig into some other collections I‘m more excited about right now. I‘ll return to this one later. Perhaps I‘ll do this as a daily meditation at some point, purposely reading just one poem a day.

GingerAntics @CBee the transition between winter and summer always seems really tough for some reason. Sometimes I escape into books and sometimes (like this year) I escape into movies. 3y

GingerAntics @CBee I got some new bookshelves, so the books by my bed are in a different place now, and I keep forgetting to read my Shakespeare a day and my poem for every night. I end up reading a week or two at a time. Then I keep forgetting to post things I‘ve taken pictures of. This one (and the other one) were on my phone for about three days before I remembered to post. It‘s like if there isn‘t something in my phone telling me to post, I forget. 3y

I loved this little volume so much. Some of my favorite poems were by Walt Whitman, John Clark, Alexander Pope, Bei Dao, Anna Akhmatova, Mark Strand, David Ferry, and Langston Hughes. Only a few of the poets are contemporary and a lot of the poems are steeped in nature. If you appreciate mostly antiquated poetry about solitude then you‘ll give this book five stars like I did.
