We got more snow overnight, turning our birdfeeders into ice, snow, and icicle art. Looking forward to a morning spent reading. ❄️😊

The redhead shows up for breakfast every once in a while. They're so quick, it's hard to get a good shot.

CBee Oh how I love a red bellied woodpecker! We get these and also the downy woodpeckers 🐦♥️ 2y
Aimeesue @CBee Im just glad he's left off hammering on our shed! (We did get rid of the carpenter bees that had moved in too.) They so fun to watch! 2y
Jess_Read_This I love red bellied woodpeckers! I call them my “sassy guys” because they sit and holler at me while I fill up my bird feeders. And in the spring they battle the orioles for grape jelly. Such big personalities in such small bodies! 2y

CBee @Aimeesue oh goodness yes! How did you get rid of the carpenter bees? We have that issue too 🤦‍♀️ 2y
CBee @Jess_Read_This they holler at you 😂😂 that‘s so cool! 2y
Jess_Read_This @CBee 😂My husband didn‘t believe me until he saw one hollering from the tree at me while I was filling the feeder. Pretty sure it‘s bird language for “Get moving, Lady!! We‘re hungry!” 2y
CBee @Jess_Read_This birds are so funny. I‘m hoping we can get back to feeding them this year - first we had that horrible outbreak that was making certain birds sick, then had rats decide they wanted to partake in the seed 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ So last year was kind of a bust. 2y
Jess_Read_This @CBee I took a break this summer/fall from feeding bc of a disease outbreak in our area. I just kept my hummingbird feeders out. I‘ve heard rats can be atrocious! I live out in the country so my biggest pests are squirrels and raccoons. But I think I must have given the raccoons diabetes over the summer with my feeders so I haven‘t seen any this winter 🤣 Just the squirrels. But they haven‘t been terrible (yet) 2y
CBee @Jess_Read_This oh, we have tons of squirrels and ended up with a whole family of raccoons! We actually caught them on camera and it was the mom and her four babies trailing behind her (it was so cute ☺️). 2y
Aimeesue @Jess_Read_This @CBee We had to stop feeding them for a while a year or so ago due to bird illness too, but got the all clear. We used to have MANY squirrels, but had to take down the trees nearest the house as they were dying, so now there just one who raids the feeder every day. Nobody else attempts it, since it's on the second floor deck and it's hard to get up there with a Pibble and a lab keeping watch through the sliding glass doors. 😂 2y
Aimeesue @CBee Apparently they weren't too entrenched. I think my husband just sprayed Raid around the affected boards two or three times. Happily, they moved on and have not returned! (edited) 2y
CBee @Aimeesue oh my gosh, this sounds just like what we had to do! We had three trees removed right near our back deck. We also had some deck repair which kind of messed up my feeding arrangement. I‘m thinking of just doing hanging feeders this year. 2y
Aimeesue @CBee Do the woodpeckers come to hanging feeders? I have a lot of bigger birds that come to this one -jays, mourning doves - so I guess I'd need a big hanging feeder if I still wanted those guys to hang around. 🙂 2y
CBee @Aimeesue I honestly have no idea. I really like the feeders we had which are exactly like yours, but am concerned about getting rats again 😅 I would definitely miss the woodpeckers! I‘ll have to research it a bit more. We even had crows! 2y
