"An extended love letter to a magical San Francisco."-- "New York Times Book Review" A fiercely ambitious TV talk show host finds she must choose between national stardom in New York and a husband and child in San Francisco. Caught in the middle is trheir longtime friend, a gay man whose own future nis even more uncertain. Wistful and compassionate, yet subversively funny, "Sure of You" could only come from Armistead Maupin. "An old-fashioned pleasure...there's been nothing like it since the heyday of the serial novel 100 years ago...No matter what Maupin writes next, he can look back on the rare achievement of having built a little world and made it run." -- "Voice Literary Supplement" "I know I'm not the only one who was up until 2 in the morning with "Sure of You, " promising myself to stop after just one more chapter." -- "New York Times Book Review" "A quietly understated small masterpiece." -- "USA Today"

2-7-21: My 14th finished book of 2021! Book 6 in the Tales of the City series. Brian and Marianne must navigate parenthood and the offer of a new job, will they leave SF? Michael and Thack are in love and have left Barbary Lane for their own space. And Mrs. Madrigal and Mona travel to Greece. This series has lots of heart. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #sureofyou #armisteadmaupin 👍🏼📖#️⃣1️⃣4️⃣

Back cover says the author's “most enthralling tale yet”. I say most boring. Didn't like Mary Ann at all. Celebrity has gone to her head. Michael & Thack are still together but seemed more discontented than happy. Mrs. Madrigal goes to Lesbos w/ Mona & those sections, tho more about Mona, were the best parts. My heart broke for Brian but as much as he loves Mary Ann, Shawna deserves better. I can only believe her life will be happier w/o Mary Ann.

I have really enjoyed all of the Tales of the City books up until now. This one I just can't seem to connect with. I did come to dislike who Mary Ann had become in the last book, and she's no better here, so I guess that's a big part of it.

Also, this cover is really blah compared to some of them.
