Pickpick

This is a beautifully written story about two middle school girls who develop a deep friendship with each other while learning lessons about life, interpersonal relationships, and writing. The characters are complex and relatable, the story is soft and heartwarming (although some deep issues are mentioned), and the lessons are applicable to everyone. I cannot recommend this book enough! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
(cw for alcoholism & domestic abuse)

"Any liar can make things up. But a good writer is more than just a clever liar. A good writer tells the truth by telling lies."
Perfect for #NaNoWriMo time:)

We all have the 12 year old still in us. Embrace her/him. How can you resist a chapter called "PUPPIES, KITTENS, AND A BIG GREEN FROG"? Yes, this book is sweet. And I own it so I can tote it just about anywhere??I do try not to trespass...?

JanuarieTimewalker13 Loved it!!! I'm forwarding to a friend's adolescent...the setting was great (Cali 1972) and the 12 year old girls wise beyond their years, yet still 12. They take a writing class at Berkeley..."Drop a pebble in a pond, Verla says. Watch the ripples spread. that's what you want your writing to do." 8y
