5 posts | 9 read | 4 to read
Usa Today

I believe this is my favorite #NordicNoir series. Just enough humor and grit combined. Likeable characters who have to face their own fears and the past. Erlander and Eva Lind are unforgettable. Set in Iceland. @Tove_Reads

Tove_Reads Finished it earlier this week. 4y

Ongoing discussion with @Tove_Reads It hasn't been translated. Alas, I can't read German. I don't know if I could even find a German or Icelandic copy. And I was getting excited about reading an Icelandic book. I had fun looking for it with you. 😆

Tove_Reads Very strange. I could probably read it in both Icelandic and German, but would most likely not be able to get hold of the books. But, why have they not translated it? 4y
Ruthiella Some of Arnaldur Indriðason‘s books have been translated into English. They are available at The Book Depository , for example. ? (edited) 4y
Butterfinger @Ruthiella we're looking for the first one in the series. For some reason, the first and second ones were not translated. Just the third on. 4y
Ruthiella Oh, gotcha! Bummer! ☹️ 4y

At the weekend i dug this one out of the slowly reducing pile (library isn't open 😞) + was pleased to remember how much i loved the grumpy Icelandic detective erlendur. This one is set in a hotel at Xmas where erlundur investigates a murder but is so lonely at home he decides to take a room. As he deals with his troubled relationship with his daughter he also reveals something of his childhood. Definitely won't leave it as long to get to next bk.

Cathythoughts This sounds like a good Christmas read 👍🏻❤️ 5y
andrew61 @Cathythoughts yes i was thinking that when i was sat in the garden in the sun on Saturday. 5y

Started in SAN Francisco finished this jet lagged morning in Perth ( home). A gentle read for the plane however didn‘t get to read much as I was seduced into watching all the episodes of Big Little Lies. Read the book a while ago. Anyway this book is a good read as far as thriller type books go. As I said quite gentle. Would also make a good holiday read. @MrsMalaprop

#hellooctober
Bookish gifts! My boyfriend picked up these two books for me at a used book sale and had ordered this shirt. I can not get over how adorable this shirt is! Perfect for #bannedbooksweek and #scartober. Only question, can I get away with wearing it every day this month? 🤔

Bookworm54 The shirt is so cute! 😍 8y
QueenAnne Of course you can! #rockon #scaretober #justbeyourself 😉😉 8y
BookInMyHands Oooh, Robopocalypse was so fun! Although I will never trust my cell phone, which is probably OK. 8y
