Bailedbailed

I tried. I read The Island of Dr. Moreau, War of the Worlds, The Invisible Man (many years ago), and some of The Time Machine. He has a similar style about all of them—no character development, sets up an improbable explanation for improbable science (like how I felt when reading Frankenstein), 1st person objective narrative, and plodding plot. I can appreciate the imaginative writing in its time and the horror vibe along with sci-fi.

Cool book I picked up at a superb bookstore, I'm not saying which one because I don't need competition! 😝

Do you have a favourite H.G. Wells novel?

Mines are The Invisible Man and The War of the Worlds, but it's fair to say I've not read a bad one by him! 🌠

MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm ❤️😱❤️ I‘m a Time Machine fan myself, but War of the Worlds is definitely a close second! 4y
TheNeverendingTBR @MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm The Time Machine is one I've yet to read 👌 4y
eeclayton I've read The Time Machine, The Invisible Man and The Island of Doctor Moreau, all were amazing but I liked The Time Machine best. War of the Worlds is on my TBR. 4y
TheNeverendingTBR @eeclayton I'll need to get to reading The Time Machine asap, I loved The Island of Dr. Moreau; I think I'd definitely return to all of the H.G. Wells books I've read! 👌 4y
