“Chameleons are a little different. They can change color. But they want to have a color of their own.”
“Chameleons are a little different. They can change color. But they want to have a color of their own.”
I think this book teaches important themes of identity and belonging. It talks about the importance of being true to yourself which is a great lesson to learn.
This book shares the story of a chameleon who is tired of changing his colors. He wants one color of his own and battles this feeling throughout his journey.
“All animals have a color of their own, except for chameleons. They change color wherever they go.“ I love this quote because it sets up the main idea of the story, where the chameleon feels different because of his inability to keep a consistent color.
I would use this book in my classroom to have discussions about identity and friendship.
A Color of His Own was written by Leo Lionni and published originally in 1975. This book is about a chameleon who tries to find his own color. After awhile, he learns to accept himself and finds friendship around him. Great book with beautiful illustrations.
This is a great picture book to teach children the importance of the “issues of personal identity, conformity, and the value of friendship”. There are also many extension activities you could do in the classroom with this book.
Picture book. Published 2000. This was one of my favorite books to read growing up!! It tells the story about a chameleon who doesn‘t look like the others and hides away. He finally finds someone else who changes the way he does and they travel on through life together. This is an amazing picture book and I need it for my classroom!
This TL picture book by Leo Lionni would be perfect for S (and I intend to do so!). This book tells the story of a chameleon that is bothered by the fact that he does not have his own color. The end of the story has moralistic value so I would consider it a fable. I would use ESOL strategy 17 Provide contextual support through audio visuals, models, demonstrations, etc while storytelling with props.
“We will still change color wherever we go, but you and I will always be alike“
I would use this in my classroom because of the colors of the book and because the students would be engaged with the cameleons.
This book is about a chameleon that is trying to find his color. The pictures are very colorful and bright and would hold the interest of a child. The content in this book is age-appropriate because it educates young children about the different colors of animals.
I would use this book in my future classroom because the illustrations are very colorful which would keep young students engaged.
A Color of His Own is a colorful book about a chameleon trying to fit in. This book would fall under the picturebook category because the content provides a theme that is developed as the chameleon realizes he is his own color. Also, the format follows accordingly by keeping the size of the book appropriate for the content.
This modern fantasy book, A Color of His Own by Leo Lionni, has yet to have won an award; however, it is a great book to S to your students. There are many different kinds of animals who have a color of their own, except for chameleons. Throughout this book you will get to know the story of a chameleon who just wanted to have one color to call his own🦎
We had a very bookish Easter. 🐸🌷🌼🐞🐝🌿🐇🐣🦆 I hope you had a lovely weekend as well.
It's color week in kinder! This book is so cute...but the stuffed chameleon is cuter! #teachersoflitsy
One of my favourites. Best line: "The chameleon was black in the long winter night." He is sad because he keeps changing and has no colour of his own. But then he meets another chameleon, and they are green together, and yellow, and red with white polka dots. ❤️ My 6 y/o and I still read this sometimes. Then we name all the colours in every language we know. #PicturebookLove #17booklove
