My paternal heritage is Polish & Slovak and I grew up around lots of Ukrainians. I didn‘t realize what strong opinions I held about traditional Central European recipes until I bought this #cookbook. As in, there‘s one right way to make things. Case in point: beet rolls. The beet leaf must entirely enwrap the bread dough, place them snugly in a casserole, then pour cream over & bake. Does that sound anything like the travesty illustrated?
