We Were Not the Savages
We Were Not the Savages: A Mi'kmaq Perspective on the Collision Between European and Native American Civilizations | Daniel N. Paul
1 post | 1 read
The result of four years of rewriting, revising, and updating, this new edition includes reams of shocking new data about the confrontation between the Mi'kmaq and European civilizations. This re-examination of original historical records casts doubts on early military and political figures now honored as heroes and questions who the savages really were.

TNG7.20 #JourneysEnd Oh boy, so many problems! A White Man's Burden™ story (think Trail of Tears) with a side of Magical Indians™. And Magical Wesley. And cliché flute music. Barf. Poor Tom Jackson: I wouldn't be surprised if the psychotic break he suffered in the 1990s was the result of roles like this. Unwatchable.

Let's read about real people shall we and actually do something to decolonize Turtle Island instead.

Megabooks I‘m excited to read an indigenous author for #booked2019. I haven‘t read many. I stopped reading Magical Negro™ books 10 years ago when my white friends couldn‘t shut up about The Help. Indigenous people, POC are not around for the benefit of white people, to teach white people lessons, etc. 👎🏻👎🏻 6y
tournevis @Megabooks Exactly! And this episode is part of the problem. We must do better. 6y
