Dave Barry's Book of Bad Songs
Dave Barry's Book of Bad Songs | Dave Barry
4 posts | 8 read | 1 to read
When funnyman Dave Barry asked readers about their least favorite tunes, he thought he was penning just another installment of his weekly syndicated humor column. But the witty writer was flabbergasted by the response when over 10,000 readers voted. "I have never written a column that got a bigger response than the one announcing the Bad Song Survey," Barry wrote.Based on the results of the survey, Dave Barry's Book of Bad Songs is a compilation of some of the worst songs ever written. Dave Barry fans will relish his quirky take. Music buffs, too will appreciate this humorous stroll through the world's worst lyrics. The only thing wrong with this book is that readers will find themselves unable to stop mentally singing the greatest hits of Gary Puckett.

My biggest complaint about this book is it‘s not long enough. Americans do indeed, as Barry says, care deeply about song badness and we want to read more about it! I‘ve read this book several times and always laugh. This time I listened to it; I didn‘t love the narrator— he made everything sound smarmy and condescending. That‘s not how I read this book.

4. Starbucks Frappuccino drink from the machine downstairs

What's more #funfunfun for #rockinmay than a book about bad songs? (Beach Boys fans don't need to worry about seeing many of their songs here; however, Brian Wilson gets some writing credits for songs performed by other artists.)

Cinfhen Excellent pick! Sounds like a #funfunfun book 😍 8y
ValerieAndBooks I will have to look into the bottom book, my older son is a musician and has a somewhat silly sense of humor 😊 8y
Susanita @ValerieAndBooks It's also a fun book. No musical genre is exempt from the jokes! 8y

This book cracks me up, but it also gives me a chance to mention the most amazing thing I saw on the AMC awards: MacArthur's Park covered by The Band Perry. Most of the audience looked like they just wanted out of there 😂 That was some of the best TV of 2016! #funfriday
