Mehso-so

Lieutenant Eve Dallas & partner, Detective Delia Peabody, investigate the murder of one of their own. Detective Amaryllis Coltraine has been killed by an unknown assailant - most shockingly she was killed with her own weapon. Evidence points to it being someone Coltraine trusted, perhaps even loved.

OK now it seems that it took me a long time to read this, but I did take a hiatus so I actually read most of this in a couple of days. (continued)

OutsmartYourShelf It was good but not really up to the usual standard for me. One of the main issues is that I really didn't care about Coltraine's death. She hadn't been around long enough to really grow as a character. So...meh.

Also I was rather disappointed in the light relief of Charles & Louise's batchelor/ette parties. It's around the year 2060 & the guys get Vegas, gambling, & strippers whilst the women get beauty treatments & stay at home.

OutsmartYourShelf I'd be a bit disappointed if in 40 years or so that's still the standard. So although it was still well-written & there were some punny asides, I didn't enjoy it as much as previous books. 3⭐

I am just amazed at how good this series continues to be after all this time. This book had so many great moments and I love that Eve and Roarke just keep getting better as a married couple.

Just read this book again last night and remember why I love the series so much. I like this one in particular because of Morris.
