Dakota: A Spiritual Geography | Kathleen Norris
2 posts | 5 read | 2 to read
"A book of stories, a book of prayer, a book to be read meditatively and well," DAKOTA offers a timeless tribute to a place in the American landscape that is at once desolate and sublime, harsh and forgiving, steeped in history and myth. From the award-winning author of AMAZING GRACE, DAKOTA is Kathleen Norris at her most thoughtful, her most discerning, her best. She gives us, once again, a rare "gift of hope and balance, a place to begin" (Chicago Tribune) and assurance that wherever we go, we chart our own spiritual geography.

My book & bag finds yesterday at Magers & Quinn! Had a lovely day shopping at a Hmong farmer‘s market, ate a super tasty Thai lunch, and concluded with book shopping. I should have taken a photo of the amazing colors and quantities of peppers at the market! 🌈

Amiable Sounds like a wonderful day! 3y

"Maybe the desert wisdom of the Dakotas can teach us to love anyways...here we discover the paradox of the contemplative life, that the desert of solitude can be where we learn to love others." Amazingly thoughtful dive into the experience of solitude and the desert in a harsh environment (both physically and intellectually). Reminds me of Dillard's 'Pilgrim at Tinker Creek'. #nonfictionlove #somethingforsept
