This is my husband‘s pick for our April book club (meeting tonight!). I bought it for him last Christmas on a whim—because the cover is amazing and it was $1.29 on Book Outlet. It was a good whim—we both really enjoyed it! With an alternate 16th-century setting, where alchemy is real and sea monsters & other fantastic creatures roam the edges of the earth, this was both fascinating and a lot of fun.

First off, can we just talk about how freaking amazing this cover is?! I absolutely love it!!

I really liked this book. It was so different! I loved the world of Horizon and all its creatures!

Alchemy, sea monsters, alternate realities! This is a very different but highly creative reimagining blend of science fiction and historical fiction.
