The Baby-Sitters Club #14: Hello, Mallory
The Baby-Sitters Club #14: Hello, Mallory | Ann M. Martin
3 posts | 19 read
The hit series is back, to charm and inspire another generation of baby-sitters! Mallory Pike has always wanted to be a member of the Baby-sitters Club--they're so much fun to be around, and she's practically a baby-sitter already. Now the club members have invited Mallory to a meeting. This might be her big chance! But the BSC isn't making it easy--they make Mal feel like a baby on a job, and make her take an impossible written test. Mallory's beginning to think she doesn't want to be a part of the BSC . . . or maybe she and her new friend Jessi should start a club of their own. It's time to show those Baby-sitters what a couple of new girls can do! The best friends you'll ever have--with classic BSC covers and a letter from Ann M. Martin!

I still prefer the graphic novels, too. More of those, please.

I wasn't sure how the addition of Mallory in Stacey's absence would be, but I enjoyed it. I was also obsessed with horse books in 6th grade. I did NOT enjoy Stoneybrook being racist AF to Jessi and her family. Yikes. We'll see how that develops over the following books. I also didn't really get why the BSC was so terrible to Mallory throughout. 4 ⭐️

(From King Lear to the BSC. I contain multitudes.) I liked this one a little more than most of the other BSC books I‘ve reread thus far—it doesn‘t have the boring side bits that have nothing to do w/the main plot. I also appreciated that Martin introduced Jessi & didn‘t shy away from the racism her family faced in their new town, tho I do wish Mallory had been a bit bolder when she witnessed it. But still, an important one for kids to read! 3/5 ⭐️

Probably the last one I‘ll binge read for now. Personally I feel like I can really relate to Mallory.
