pickJan‘s survival is a miracle in and of itself, but the real heroes are the villagers who risked their lives and the lives of their family members in innumerable ways to help him escape. A very fast read but haunting. Howarth‘s is an old-fashioned but interesting voice leading the reader through this amazing tale.

Amazing courage in a rugged land. Having visited Norway many times it was so nice to read about a heroic man during Norway's occupation in ww2 and to picture to some degree the hero's unbelievable endurance. Beautiful but rugged land for people of similar qualities who did the impossible to save him
