Today‘s card chosen by @Meaw_catlady and @ErinSueMreads is the Ace of Swords, which has to do with breakthroughs and achievements. This card reminds me of Ryiah from Rachel E. Carter‘s “Black Mage” series. Ryiah is pretty much the antithesis of the Chosen One trope... nothing comes easy for Ryiah, and as she learns how to wield and control magic, she has to fight and sweat and claw for everything she accomplishes!

This book was a delightful surprise. I downloaded it on a whim, not expecting that much. But I was hooked from the very beginning. I loved the characters and the magic- especially how much “reality” was put into the magic. Absolutely loved this book!

I don't read a ton of Y/A but I'm glad I gave this one a shot. This #fantasy would probably be popular with Harry Potter fans... think high school for magic users.
