I've been off Litsy for about a week because I was in NYC for work. Without going into detail, I work remotely for a book-related company based in NYC and I actually worked in the office three days this week. I got to visit the fabulous McNally-Jackson Books on Prince St. I was so impressed with their fantastically curated fiction section, organized by country.
McNally books in nyc has a display called “the silent canon” which is showcasing influential women writers from around the world.
The thesis is that women write and have written but aren‘t republished or promoted as much as men.
I tend to agree.
I will also post close ups of the continents so you can read the names.
Happy Independent Bookstore Day! I shopped from home today and ordered the last two books of the Broken Earth trilogy by NK Jemisin. I‘ve bought books from most of my other favorite NYC indies during the pandemic so I was due for a purchase from McNally Jackson. I love that they‘re woman and BIPOC co-owned! Pic is from their Instagram.
My NYC #BookHaul from the weekend!!!
