Pickpick

This #read launched my departure from litfic only books into the wider world of intellectually messy pulp. After this came Sidney Sheldon, which I also loved. Too damselly for some, this book remains one of my favorite guilty pleasures. Not for those who prefer man-bashing combat queens for heroines.

Opening line: "In times of yore when druids roamed the northern forests of England and held their sabbaths in the dark of the moon, a young man grew enamoured with battle and violence and studied the arts of war until none could best him." #thewolfandthedove #kathleenewoodiwiss #book #bookgnome #firstline #bookcover #bookish

Chelsey And then the murders began. 😂 7y
Book_Gnome Ha. I remember bits of this from when I read it in the 80's. KEW was one of the greatest historical romance writers ever. I loved her work! But I'm sure there's killings as well to feed any bloodlust we have 🙄 @Chelsey 7y

This is the first Adult book I remember reading outside of school (The Raven by Poe would have been the first "in school" Adult read for me). This was my mother's book and I thought I was so cool and so grownup when I read it—and it ended up being a good book so that's a plus. I should read my copy sometime. ☺️

BookishMarginalia I read all her work as a young teenager too. Plus Janet Dailey, June Deveraux... 8y

The husband is making me go golf with him. Which means I drink beer, read and whine about his cart driving skills.
