I gave Bitter Medicine 5 stars on Goodreads. The experiences of those trapped in an inadequate mental healthcare system is conveyed very accurately. One sibling telling the family experience navigating through diagnoses and treatment and one sharing his experiences through art was a creative, effective format to detail the universal experiences affected families share.

The best book I have read to date about experiencing mental illness, as the diagnosed and as a family member. It outlines all the major problems with the system that I have experienced, clearly and with strength. A must read, for all.
