pick4/5⭐ A solid sequel and conclusion to Adaptation. It's not quite as action-packed, but it flowed very well. I liked the progression of character/relationship development and how Reese dealt with big world-changing issues along with normal teenager issues. Sometimes the love triangle made me roll my eyes, but the solution and how the characters got there was satisfying.
“We humans only have words," Reese said. "Why do you think they're important to us?”
I loved this whole bit! How absolutely chill Amber is about her fathers because it‘s totally normal in her world. 😁

so-soI'm glad I found out what happens next after Adaptation, but this book didn't thrill me. It split its time between Reese‘s romantic life, and the government conspiracy/who to trust plot, so neither plot was deep or fulfilling. Especially since I really didn't like the romance resolution--solve the love triangle with polyamory because the main character's bi! Even tho there's no suggestion 2 of the 3 want a poly relationship! Overplayed trope. 2/5⛤
