Say something would be a fabulous choice for a RA in the classroom! This RF book teaches students to use their voice & speak up on topics they‘re passionate about! This book also teaches our students “speaking up” doesn‘t always require your voice, there are many ways we can make a difference through our actions. 🙌🏼 I would teach this book using the UDL principle 3.1(activate or supply background knowledge)

Vanvlieta I would use this UDL principle by creating a discussion with students about the ways they have used their voice/ actions to stand up for what they believed in. I would use ESOL strategy 1(use pre-reading activities to activate former knowledge) as well. https://www.readingrockets.org/article/103-things-do-during-or-after-reading #UCFLAE3414SP21 💬🗯🗣 4y

DrSpalding Your post includes everything required. Reading rockets is a high-quality resource and you explained the universal design and English learner strategies that support your read aloud of this book. Well done. Love the emoji‘s too! 🤓 4y

Fantastic for read-aloud: big text, bold illustrations, diverse characters. 'Saying something' can take many forms, not just verbal. Not a narrative story, but lots of ideas for personal expression and kindness. I'm fascinated by the backgrounds in the illustrations. They could inspire an collage project of hand-painted patterns layered eith photos. Can't wait to read Reynold's "Word Collector" #dw2020reads

A perfect 10. This book is extremely simple with one point SAY SOMETHING!. To help kids understand it covers saying good things, helping defeat bad things, and that sometimes you can say something by actions instead of words. A MUST read for every child everywhere.

DeniseR I like how you used a readera theater to bring this literature into the classroom. Students can get what your saying through a book as they act it out. I think this could also be a dramatic reenactment tailored to an issue in schools. Teachers can teach students who to ask, how to stay safe, and what to say. Nice! 6y
