I Ask My Mother To Sing by Li-Young Lee.
As a side note, I met Lee about 15 years ago at a poetry festival in Round Top, TX (pop. 77 at the time) and fell in love with his poetry. It‘s such an awesome experience to hear the poet read their own poems. I purchased the tagged, which he gratefully signed. ❤️

Li-Young Lee
Time is almost our home
The seasons almost tell a story
The seasons groan in the bedded hinges of our bones
An original motive in our blood, their wheels turn, a branching lathe and music the living, the dead, and the unborn step in and out of,
shadowing each other...

Posting early because I have to get up early to be at my polling place when they open at 6.
The fall weather always makes me think of this lovely poem. It's been on my mind the past few days.
