Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ of 5 ⭐️s

Lots of people firmly believe that stinging insects exist for no other reason but to vex humanity, but Schmidt shows how they are, in fact, marvels of evolution, and their stings are a hallmark of their survival despite the odds against them. Fascinating as that might be, though, the best part is Schmidt's pain scale at the end of the book: now you can describe the quality of a bee sting in exact words XD.

I've been hearing buzz (pun unintended - or was it?) about this book since last year, mostly because of how Schmidt created a pain scale for rating the stings of various insects. I'm looking forward to reading about Schmidt's vicissitudes in compiling and describing said scale :D.

This one has me hooked from the first sentence. This guy got himself stung by insects for science and rated each experience.
