#2019Book45
The artwork in this graphic novel is gorgeous and the story is one of the more original plots I‘ve read lately. If you like to read about “super diseases” and don‘t mind a bit of blood and nudity, then you‘ll love this book.

Lynnsoprano Reinventing Bach by Paul Elie for nonfiction. Just finished the ARC of A Dangerous Duet by Karen Odden. On the music front, this is right in my wheelhouse 😄 6y
Lynnsoprano Also This Is Your Brain on Music by Daniel J Levitin and Musicophilia by Oliver Sacks. Emblems of Mind by Edward Rothstein, too. 6y

This is absolutely fantastic. A blend of horror, dystopia, mystery with just a hint of sci-fi. The art is not my favorite, but solid and a good fit to the story; the writing is SUPERB.

ladym30 What a cover! Scary but beautiful! 7y
Elisa @ladym30 I know, this is pretty creepy. I don‘t normally go for horror and the cover should have turned me off, but I loved the premise! Now that I‘ve read it, I can tell you there are a couple of gory images, but overall it isn‘t nightmarish or very scary, more horror in a sci-fi, “yikes” way, if that makes sense! 😊 7y
ladym30 @Elisa I checked it on Amazon and it is a very interesting premise. It does sound good. 7y

This was really interesting: there's an STD that makes people transform into the standard of beauty so society is split into those trying to treat the disease and figure it out and those intentionally infecting themselves in order to be beautiful. Really curious to read on.

TheLondonBookworm That sounds interesting! 8y
Cinfhen Cool pic 8y
Boghunden That definitely doesn't sound like anything I've ever read or even heard of before :) 8y
Matilda @Boghunden that's exactly why I picked it up. Plus the great cover art. 8y
