“Marco doesn‘t believe in optimism.” - Jake

The most reluctant of the Animorphs has a really rough time - my favourite part was when he convinced the others that the best plan was morphing into lobsters to escape pursuit and jumping into a lobster tank at a supermarket (they got sold and almost ended up as dinner).

Marco can‘t catch a break (except for that one nice moment with his dad at the end). The stakes continue to rise! Great instalment.

For being the “clown” Marco‘s first time as narrator is a rather intense and dark turn. Ax‘s antics at the food court land 3 of the team in hot water (they turn into lobsters to escape cops and almost end up as dinner). There‘s a nightmare fuel scene where they morph ants and nearly get ripped apart by a rival colony. Marco tells the team he‘s done after this next mission but finds a reason to keep fighting whilst on the Yeerk mothership.
