great, i‘m now terrified of ulcers 😖
quick read, sarcastic & self deprecating. writing this must have been cathartic for her, writing about things you‘ve worked your whole life to conceal is scary & it couldn‘t have been easy for her. i also liked that you could tell she wrote the book herself without a ghostwriter. it‘s a bit scattered & isn‘t filled with crazy stories or broken childhood drama so if your looking for that you won‘t find it.

@hermyknee if it had been a weekend, this might have been a one sitting book for me. I gulped it down over two nights. Love her self-deprecating sense of humor and her painful honesty. So hard to read about her lowest moments. Didn‘t realize she was living in NYC and had been in so many plays while I was also residing there. Wish I had caught one!

Thank goodness for #freakyfriday and @hermyknee or I probably never would have known about this book. I‘m gulping it down tonight. I think at some point I‘m going to need to listen to the audiobook as well, read by Kristen Johnston herself!

hermyknee Hooray! I‘m still listening to We Were Eight Years in Power - it is powerful. After I finish my BOTM, I‘m wanting to read something fun and unputdownable... would The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet fit the bill?? 7y
Carolyn11215 @hermyknee lol, after We Were Eight Years in Power, almost anything is gonna seem light it comparison. I thought The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet was fun and unusual so hopefully that will fit the bill! 7y

I don't even know why I picked up this book, because I remember being really surprised at how good it was. It's honest, raw and also very funny. I was very moved by it. #MemorableMemoirs #booktober @RealLifeReading
