Next up is "The Kingdom of Childhood" by Rebecca Coleman featuring Peregrin's seal of approval. We're hiding out in the reading room because our kitchen is FINALLY getting repaired ? and my husband left us to go on a fishing trip. ?

This book is a difficult read in the same way that Lolita is a difficult read. A teacher's sexual involvement with a student set against the backdrop of the Clinton impeachment trials. It's disturbing to say the least. I'm not sure if I followed a descent into madness, or was there the whole time.
Such a weird and disturbing book. Every time I get comfortable in the events of the story, something happens to remind me I'm not supposed to be comfortable.
I'm a sucker for a great first paragraph. This book is a teeny bit obscure (meaning I got it from the sale bin and have heard nothing about it), but I have high hopes.
