"Your day starts by being jilted at the altar. It's about to get a lot worse." If Nina Cormier's wedding had taken place, she would be dead. But after the bride was left at the altar, the church stood empty when the bomb exploded. It wasn't until a stranger tried to run her off the road that Nina realized someone actually wanted to kill her. But who? That's what Detective Sam Navarro has to find outfast. With a nightmare unfolding all around them, Sam and Nina must try to decipher the terrifying truth: they are at the mercy of a brilliant madman, one who is playing for keeps."

Nina is ready to get married but the groom has done a runner and then the church blows up. Could somebody want her dead. But who and why?

Gerritsen is such a great writer. I'm always hooked from page 1 and this was no exception. The plot was so good. It's fast paced and dramatic. I loved how it all came together and the ending was perfect 4*

Tess Gerritsen is one of my favourites especially if I am in the mood for suspense and gore. I didn't realise this book was one of her earlier novels & more geared towards the romance genre. It was easy enough to read and the story line was ok and from any other author it could have been a 4 star but I expect so much more from Tess, I expect her to make my stomach turn and wince, both of which I can normally rely on her for but not in this book.

Finished this playaway during my drive into work! While I was expecting this to be a thriller and I didn‘t realize there would be a romance novel aspect to it (which I don‘t particularly enjoy), it was a fast paced book and great for listening to while I was getting things done over the weekend!

First of the month and first book finished. I fancied something gripping and thrilling to get me started but instead I got a clichéd romance with a bit of skulduggery thrown in 😒 I'm not even going to talk about the sex scenes...😂 shocking! This is the 2nd Gerritsen I've read (I much preferred the first) but after this I'm not sure I fancy another. Still, at least I finished it so there are some positives. #moreskulduggery #crime #booktober

Here are six of the books I aim to read this month. I hope to get through more if I can though. Just noticed that they're all female writers! I must admit I don't usually pay attention to the gender of writers I'm reading - not sure if that's good or bad. #booktober #harrypotter #personalgoals
