gods with a little g
gods with a little g: A Novel | Tupelo Hassman
7 posts | 6 read | 47 to read
From the acclaimed author of Girlchild, this gritty, irreverent novel sees a young misfit grow into hope Rosary, California, is not an easy place to grow up, particularly without a mom. So cut off from the rest of the world that even the Internet is blocked, Rosary is a town run by evangelicals but named by Catholics (and the evangelicals arent particularly happy about that). Its a town on very formal relations with its neighbors, one that doesnt have much traffic in or out and that boasts an oil refinery as well as a fairly sizable population of teenagers. For Helen and her friends, the Tire Yard, sex, and beer are the best ways to pass the days until they turn eighteen and can leave town entirely. Her best friends, Win and Rainbolene, late arrivals to Rosary, are particularly keen to departRain because shell finally be able to get the hormones she needs to fully become herself. Watching over them is Aunt Bev, an outcast like the kids, who runs the barely tolerated Psychic Encounter Shoppe. As time passes, though, tensions build for everyone and threats against the Psychic Encounter Shoppe become serious actions. In Tupelo Hassman's gods with a little g, these flawed, lovable characters discover aspects of each other's hearts that reshape how they think about trust and family, and how to make a future you can see.

Belated #libraryhaul- even if I‘m in the middle of three other books and classes start in a week, I‘m an eternal book optimist- I will I have time to read these!! Especially since the tagged was so hyped by @Liberty - I just couldn‘t resist it.

I want to take a moment to remind you that gods with a little g by Tupelo Hassman is out on Tuesday, and it is Genius with a big G. I don‘t even possess the words in my vocabulary to describe what an amazing experience it was to read this incendiary novel of youth and grief and yearning. It perfectly captures how stupid, immediate, and confusing it feels to be a teenager. I loved it with the heat of a thousand suns. ☀️🔥❤️

I requested Gods with a little g because I absolutely loved Girlchild. This novel has the same grit and glory all wrapped up in a fabulous package (the cover is absolutely perfect once you read the book). The brilliance of this book is that there is much healing of individuals and community within its pages. #netgalley

The idea of starting my staycation this weekend is no longer a possibility, because I still have too much work, so I am cheering myself up by picking another book I plan to read when it does start. I am so excited for this one because I loved GIRLCHILD! And the cover is 😂🔥❤️.

Suet624 I‘m sorry you can‘t start your vacation yet. 😕 6y
