Happy Birthday Gail Parent! I read this book years ago and it had a lasting impact on me! It has moments of hilarity, deep sadness, and reflections on the life of a woman who did not conform to the expectations of society. Parent‘s dark humour is razor sharp and she paints a realistic picture of the pressures put on a single woman in the 1970s.It‘s a bit dated, but much of what she writes about still rings true.
